On hearing about the traffic accident on the bridge over the Nhadue river in Vunduzi administrative post, Gorongosa, on Wednesday morning, district administrator Pedro Mussengue immediately visited the scene, where he provided assistance to passengers, learned about the situation and left recommendations for the local authorities.
Mussengue learned that the accident was caused by a Khurula Transport Company bus from Maputo to Nampula which insisted on crossing the bridge despite the strong current.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life. Only one passenger contracted minor injuries, and was promptly rescued by the local population and transported by ambulance to Gorongosa health centre.
In response to the accident, Mussengue urged local authorities to warn road users, particularly passenger transporters, in advance about the transitability of the road and the Nhadue bridge.
In addition to the district administrator, the district commander of the PRM, the director of SDSMAS and the local authorities were also on site.
