Italian engineering firm Saipem has been awarded a $150mn contract by Coral FLNG S.A for maintenance services of the floating facility Coral Sul FLNG offshore Mozambique, the company said on April 6.
The contract has a duration of around nine years, plus one optional year. The activities cover maintenance of the entire FLNG facility and onboard supervision as well as the creation of an onshore logistical base.
Coral Sul FLNG will produce natural gas from the Rovuma basin, located approximately 250 km northeast of Pemba and 50 km from the Mozambique coast. The FLNG, which is part of the Coral South project, has a liquefaction capacity of 3.4mn metric tons/year and will put an estimated 450bn m3 of natural gas into production at the offshore basin.
Coral FLNG S.A is a special purpose entity incorporated in Mozambique by Area 4 partners Eni, Exxon Mobil, China’s CNPC, Portugal’s GALP, the Korea Gas Corp and the National Oil Company of Mozambique.
