The European Union (EU) will provide €60 million to support basic education and gender equality programmes in Mozambique.
The news was announced in Chiúre, Cabo Delgado province, by EU Ambassador to Mozambique Antonio Sánchez, during the reopening of Nahavara Primary School, which has been rehabilitated and equipped by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) with EU funds, as part of the recovery of infrastructure resilient to natural events.
At the moment, Sánchez said, discussions are taking place with the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH) to define actions to be financed using the funds announced.
Happy to see more results of #EU post-cyclone reconstruction efforts with partners and govt. Investing in safe, resilient and inclusive schools not only improves learning opportunities for children, it also is a way of promoting peace and stability. https://t.co/A7KEikCQZq
