Mozambique: Cholera outbreak declared again in Moma district

The Mozambican Ministry of Health on Saturday reported a further 18 new cases of the Covid-19 respiratory disease, compared with 19 the previous day.
Since the start of the pandemic, 1,267,427 people have been tested for the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, 1,423 of them in the previous 24 hours. The 18 positive cases brought the total number of people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Mozambique to 225,036.
The Covid-19 positivity rate (the percentage of those tested who prove to be carrying the coronavirus) in Mozambique rose from 0.96 per cent on Thursday, to 1.27 per cent on Friday, then falling back slightly to 1.26 per cent on Saturday.
The number of people under medical care in the Covid-19 treatment centres fell from 19 on Friday to 15 on Saturday, three of whom were receiving supplementary oxygen. Nine of these patients (60 per cent) were in Maputo,
The number of active cases of Covid-19 rose slightly from 3,503 on Friday to 3,520 on Saturday.
The Ministry also reported that over the previous 24 hours a further 63,915 people were vaccinated against Covid-19. This brought the number of people fully vaccinated against the disease to 10,988,141. This is 72.2 per cent of all citizens aged 18 and above.
