Maputo-Katembe bridge: Truck crashes into median; driver seriously injured – Noticias

The driver of a heavy goods vehicle sustained serious injuries when his vehicle crashed violently into the median barrier of the Maputo-KaTembe Bridge early on Tuesday morning (15-02).
The cabin of the vehicle, a Shackman, registration number AJU 748 MC, overturned, and the barrier itself sustained damage from the impact, Noticias reports today..
Authorities believe that the driver of the vehicle, which was travelling north/south, lost control as a result of fatigue.
The Chief of the Police Civic Education Department in Maputo, José Nhantumbo, reported that the victim was taken to Maputo Central Hospital in an ambulance from the Mozambique Road Network (REVIMO).
Nhamtumbo urged long-distance drivers to rest whenever they felt fatigued, in order to safeguard their own lives and those of other road users, and prevent damage to infrastructure.
