Búzi district, in Sofala province, expects to harvest around 100,000 tonnes of rice in the current agricultural season.
This production will be achieved from an area of 30,000 hectares, more than half of which has already been ploughed and sown.
The director of Economic Activities of Búzi, Miguel Rabeca, says that the rain falling in the district recently has revived hopes for a good rice crop, and that approximately 17,000 rice producers in the district are currently engaged in planting out.
Rabeca also announced the complete rehabilitation of the biggest rice processing factory in Búzi from the impact of natural disasters.
