The National Petroleum Institute (INP) says it routinely receives requests from national companies’ for letters of reference or accreditation for the purposes of their participation in tenders for the supply of goods and services to the oil and gas industry in Mozambique.
In a note, which ‘Carta’ has seen, the institution clarifies that it does not issue letters of reference or accreditation as regards the supplying of goods and services.
“It is hereby announced that the INP does not issue the aforementioned letters,” the note reads.
The institution goes on to warn the business community and society in general that no such letters can be required as a requirement for the tenders in question.
The INP was created by the Council of Ministers under Decree no. 25/2004 of 20 August, as a regulatory body responsible for the administration and promotion of petroleum industry operations.
Its mission is to ensure that petroleum operations are carried out in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and in line with best international practices, with special emphasis on the optimal management of resources and compliance with health, safety and environmental protection aspects.
