Bad weather has destroyed homes and injured eight people in the main village of Namapa, in Eráti district, Nampula province.
The injured are out of danger, but strong winds accompanied by rain totally destroyed 300 houses in Namapa.
Eráti district administrator Manuel Mamusse told Rádio Moçambique that the situation was affecting around 1,500 people, who had been taken in by family and friends.
Mamusse said that assistance was being delivered, alongside an awareness-raising campaign urging families to build houses with materials more resistant to bad weather.
