Mozambique: Maputo Municipality aims to Improve solid waste collection

It was after 8:00 p.m. on Monday when a joint National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) and Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) team intercepted a passenger transport minibus in Nampula city’s Muahivire-Expansão neighbourhood, to find it carrying 80 kg of crystal methamphetamine, a strong narcotic.
According to SERNIC, the drug was destined for the city and province of Maputo, and was seized after a “lengthy” investigation involving agents of the two police forces.
The authorities detained two suspects, aged 39 and 24,in possession of the seized drug.
Another drug seizure was recently registered in that part of the country. A few days ago, unspecified quantities of drugs were seized in Nampula, the third largest city in the country, having been transported there from Maputo, allegedly for sale and consumption in that part of the country.
