The presidents of the Mozambican and Russian parliaments, Esperança Bias and Valentina Matviyenko, expressed, in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, the desire to see the friendship and cooperation relations between the two parliamentary institutions strengthened through the exchange of experience and best practice.
According to the two, who met last Friday on the sidelines of the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum, the secretariats of the two institutions will shortly list activities, such as parliamentary training and internships, among others, to be carried out in the near future.
Meanwhile, the President of the Assembly of the Republic said that Mozambique’s participation in the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum, which took place between the 13th and 15th of October, was positive.
The Saint Petersburg Forum aimed to debate the participation of women in political, economic and social life, as well as their role in solving global challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, gender equity and economic empowerment.
Addressing Mozambican students attending various higher education courses in Saint Petersburg, Esperança Bias said she had shared experiences on issues on the global agenda, as well as on the fight against terrorism in some areas of Cabo Delgado province.
