The search continues this Friday for the thirteen passengers still missing following the sinking of a boat in Baixo Pinda, Memba district, Nampula province, on Thursday (07-10).
First reports suggest that nine people drowned in the sinking of the sailing vessel, which was carrying more than thirty people, and not the sixty previously suggested.
The vessel, which left Nacala Porto for Memba, sank due to bad weather in the region, Memba administrator Juma Cadria said.
“Much work is ongoing to identify those who are still missing. There is an enormous amount of solidarity evident at this tragic and very dismaying time. The search process will continue until we have retrieved all the missing bodies,” Cadria commented.
