Four individuals, including one woman, were detained on Thursday (16-09) at the 3rd Police Station of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) on suspicion of selling and using various types of narcotics found in their possession.
They are A. André, A. João, C. Venâncio and Constância F, all arrested in a residence in the Coop neighbourhood, specifically in the military zone, popularly referred to as Colombia, in possession of 119 doses of heroin, 500 grams of cocaine, and a bag of cannabis sativa, commonly known as ‘suruma’, the size of which was not specified.
The police raid was triggered by an anonymous tip off, which led agents of the 3rd Police Station, located in the area, to raid the premises where the four detainees were caught red-handed, three of them actually using narcotics.
The Chief of Operations of the 3rd Police Squadron, Ernesto Muhai, told Noticias that criminal proceedings had already begun against the detainees, and papers would be forwarded to the competent authorities.
He added that this type of operation would be a constant feature of that particular residential area and its surroundings, it being considered an area where illegal drugs are known to be sold and consumed.
