Mozambican and Rwandan troops rescue more than 100 hostages in Mbau, Mocímboa da Praia – reports

The Mozambican Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and Rwandan troops together rescued more than 100 people who were being taken hostage by terrorists in Mbau, and in Mocímboa da Praia district, Cabo Delgado, this weekend, Rádio Moçambique reports..

According to the Rádio Moçambique report, he individuals, which included elderly and children, were rescued from the woods in the administrative post of Mbau, after an attack and the occupation of one of the terrorists’ main bases.

A source from the FDS General Staff said that one of the main concerns currently was lack of food, adding that there was an urgent need to raise awareness among those rescued concerning the treatment of water, with a view to preventing diarrheal diseases.

However, in the TVM report below (from 10,16 to 18.28) , Journalist Brito Simango says that 21 persons were rescued in Mbau administrative post and that, “during patrol operations in several administrative posts of Mocimboa da Paria district, the joinf Mozambican Rwandan force found another 84 persons”.

FDS e tropa ruandesa resgatam mais de 100 reféns de terroristas em Mbau, Mocímboa da Praia

As Forças de Defesa e Segurança de Moçambique e a tropa ruandesa resgataram este fim-de-semana, mais de 100 pessoas que eram feitas reféns pelos terroristas no posto administrativo de Mbau, distrito de Mocímboa da Praia, em Cabo Delgado.

Aquele número de indivíduos, com maior destaque para idosos e crianças, foram resgatados nas matas do posto administrativo de Mbau, após ataque e ocupação de uma das principais bases dos terroristas .

Uma fonte do Estado Maior-General das Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique disse que actualmente uma das principais preocupações é falta de produtos alimentares para fornecer aquela população.

A mesma fonte referiu que decorre actualmente um trabalho de sensibilização da população resgatada para o tratamento da água, com vista a prevenir doenças diarreicas.
