Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário will participate, representing the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in the 13th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) in Luanda, capital of Angola, this Saturday.
The Luanda conference is guided by the theme: “Strengthening and Promoting Economic and Business Cooperation in times of Pandemic, in favour of the Sustainable Development of CPLP Countries”, which highlights the importance of building a common and sustainable future that promotes sustainable development and the effective improvement of the population’s quality of life.
This year’s CPLP conference is also a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the organisation.
During the Luanda summit, the heads of state and government will elect the new Executive Secretary of the CPLP for the biennium 2021-2023; adopt the Agreement on Mobility among CPLP Member States; approve the granting of the CPLP Associate Observer category; appoint Good-will Ambassadors, with particular emphasis on Mozambican Leonardo Santos Simão, former Minister of Health and former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, for the area of Political-Diplomatic Agreement.
Carlos Agostinho do Rosário is accompanied on his visit by the Minister of the Interior, Amade Miquidade; the Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves; the Mozambican ambassadors to Angola and Portugal, and staff from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
