Clarisse Machanguana (born 4 October 1976) is a professional Mozambican basketball. She is a successful role model and example of determination and dedication, with the potential to influence an entire generation of youth with her visionary spirit. She had a childhood dream of becoming a lawyer, but instead, her height and dexterity allowed her a twenty-two year career in professional basketball. She played in the Women’s National Basketball Association in the United States, and in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Brazil, France and Korea.
Fluent in four languages, and skilled at writing and motivating people to action, she has recently published her first book aimed at inspiring readers to pursue their life dreams. She has recently returned to her home country, Mozambique, and is now channeling her efforts toward youth through the work of her organization Fundação Clarisse Machanguana. She aspires to motivate a generation of young people to pursue their dreams through the powerful vehicles of sports, health and education.
