Mozambique: LAM resumes flights to the North

Tuna caught and processed by Ematum is now being sold on the domestic market, with several product lines launched last Friday in Maputo.
Tuna was being exported to the international market, especially the European Union, since last year, but will now be available on the shelves of some of the capital’s supermarkets, according to Ematum executive director, Herminio Tembe.
Production cannot yet fully meet market demand, but gradual adjustment is expected as the number of vessels operating increases, Tembe says.
So far, tuna has earned Ematum 18 million meticais, a value set to increase along with productive capacity, according to the executive director.
Ematum was set up with a loan of US$850 million, a debt on which the state has been obliged to request restructuring.
