A light aircraft belonging to the Mozambican Air Force crashed on Friday morning in the neighbourhood of Hulene A. adjacent to Maputo International Airport.
One of the two occupants of the plane sustained serious injuries and was immediately evacuated to a health unit, while the other was unharmed.
The reasons for the crash are not yet known. It caused damage in the neighbourhood as it plummeted over the wall of a nearby primary school. On pictures posted on social media the tail of the aircraft can be seen hanging from nearby power cables.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the plane crash and told AIM that Air Force teams as well as firefighters and the police were on the ground to check the prospective causes behind the crash.
“Right now a multisector fact finding team is working on the ground, first to identify the reasons behind the accident and after that ensure the removal of the wreckage,” said the official Ministry source, who pledged a public reaction over the incident.
