Just in: Light FADM plane crashes in Hulene – O País

A light Armed Forces of Mozambique plane carrying two people today crashed in the Hulene area, a Maputo neighbourhood, located on the outskirts o the city, O País reports..

One of the occupants was injured, but the other escaped unscathed.

The small plane hit the roof of a residence and the fence wall of the Hulene Primary School “B”. The school principal says that no pupils were harmed in the incident, given that they were all in class.

So far, the reasons for the crash are unknown and the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, present at the scene, said that any explanation would be given at the airport and that, for the time being, nothing could be advanced.

Witnesses at the scene say the incident was sudden, and that, after the crash, there was a loud sound, which “so far I had only seen on television”, reported by Mrs. Celeste, a resident of the Hulene “B” neighbourhood.

Avioneta das FADM cai em Hulene

Uma avioneta das Forças Armadas de Moçambique, acaba de cair na zona de Hulene, arredores da cidade de Maputo. A bordo estavam dois ocupantes, dos quais, um contraiu ferimentos e outro saiu aparentemente ileso.

A avioneta atingiu tecto de uma residência e muro de vedação da Escola Primária Completa de Hulene “B”, que fica bem ao lado do campo onde a aeronave despenhou. O director da Escola garante que nenhum aluno foi atingido pelos estilhaços, já que todos estavam nas salas de aula aquando da queda.

Até aqui, desconhecem-se as razões do despenhamento e a Polícia da República de Moçambique, presente no local, disse que qualquer explicação seria dada no aeroporto e que, por enquanto, nada poderia ser avançado.

Testemunhas que estavam no local dizem que o incidente foi repentino, sendo que, depois do despenhamento, houve um estrondo, que “até aqui só havia visto na televisão”, tal como relatou a senhora Celeste, residente do bairro Hulene “B”.
