Governor of Niassa Province, Elina Judite Massengele, this Monday (17-05) met the new chairperson of the Executive Council of the Integrated Development Agency of the North, Armindo Ngunga.
ADIN, in addition to presenting the new chairman in courtesy meetings with the two provincial governing bodies (the Provincial Government and Provincial Secretariat of State), was scheduled to visit the Malica Displaced Persons Centre in Lichinga district; the Ngaúma district, to meet producer and young entrepreneurs associations; Mandimba district, to visit the Lissiete productive zone and an agricultural project; Cuamba district, to meet economic agents and young entrepreneurs; and finally, Mecanhelas district, for a meeting with producers’ and fishermen’s associations and a visit to an artisanal fishing project.
According to ADIN chairman Armindo Ngunga, there is a need to capitalize actions in the short and medium term that have an immediate impact on residents, even this year. These might involve rural infrastructure such as street and layout construction and roofing for houses, among other actions materialising the so-called ‘Cidadelas Rurais’ [‘Rural Citadels’].
In the same vein, ADIN heard from the CEP [Conselho Executivo Provincial – Provincial Executive Council ]and CSRE [Serviços Provinciais de Representação de Estado- Provincial Services of State Representation ]about other actions of significant impact which could be implemented in the short, medium and long terms.
Also at the meeting, ADIN made it known that UNIROVUMA University, within the framework of its social responsibility agenda and taking into account the difficulties of displaced students who were unable to enrol in higher education, had offered Niassa 36 scholarships for courses in Biology, Agriculture, and Accounting and Auditing.
The conditions for accessing the scholarships include being displaced and having accommodation (which the University does not provide). Applications are open until next Tuesday, 25-05.
The Province must be in charge of completing the entire process of collecting candidates to supply to UNIROVUMA within the aforementioned deadlines.
Governor Judite Massengele thanked UNIROVUMA for the scholarships before going on to list some of the proposals included in the PQG20-24.
She took the opportunity to congratulate the new ADIN chairperson on his appointment and professed unqualified openness to collaboration with the agency, recognising its importance and relevance for the people of Niassa and the consolidation of the province’s sustainable development.
The ADIN delegation and chairman were accompanied on their visit by the coordinator of Social and Humanitarian Programmes, Domingos Junqueiro, and his assistant, João Correia.
