Isaura Nyusi advocated that, despite the adversities, Mozambican women must remain at the forefront of the maintenance and preservation of peace, including the fight against Covid-19 and the terrorism afflicting some districts of Cabo Delgado province in the north of the country.
“Our Mozambican Women’s Organisation has contributed hugely to the socio-economic, political and cultural development of the country, and especially in the fight against terrorism, Covid-19, early marriages, domestic violence and all the evils that beset the development of Mozambican society,” she said.
Secretary General of OMM Mariazinha Niquice in turn pointed out that hundreds of women and children, the victims of terrorism, face a difficult situation, prompting a need to maintain solidarity among Mozambicans and reduce the number of families who have lost almost everything through the terrorists’ gruesome activities.
Also at the OMM National Council meeting, Frelimo Secretary General Roque Silva demanded vigilance against terrorism within families.
