The Muslim community toady celebrates Eid-Ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan. For the head of state, this moment is marked by a deep devotion to God, Allah, in a show faith and fear which fulfils one of the most important commandments of the Islamic religion.
On this occasion of celebration, Filipe Nyusi extols the principles and values of Islam, such as the virtues of forgiveness, tolerance, dialogue and solidarity that are evident in the Mozambican Muslim community, which contributes greatly to the consolidation of peace and unity within the diversity of the country.
According to President Nyusi, Mozambicans admire the active role of the Muslim community in the construction of the nation and in the constant search for the well-being of society.
In a statement sent to ‘O País’, Filipe Nyusi encourages Muslims to continue raising awareness, and mobilising and participating in social, economic and cultural activities directed at social harmony, moral and civic education, and the development of the country.
This year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr takes place, once again, in a context in which Mozambique continues to experience the negative effects of Covid-19 and terrorism in Cabo Delgado, and the President of the Republic ends his message with a call for greater engagement in the fight against the pandemic and against armed violence in Cabo Delgado, the better to fulfil the nation’s development agenda.
