On Wednesday, self-employment kits and construction material was delivered to the 59 former Renamo guerrillas who joined the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) process in Machaze district, Manica province.
Machaze district administrator Joana Guinda, who delivered the materials, called on the Malissanga community to help the former guerrillas reintegrate.
“We are also asking community leaders to adopt our ex-guerrillas as ‘sons of the home’. We will provide all possible opportunities for them to live in communion with others who are already in the community,” Guinda said.
The DDR process rolled out last March at the former Renamo base in Mussanhalo, Báruè district, and involved about 750 former Renamo guerrillas and members of the self-proclaimed Renamo Military Junta.
