Ethiopia and Mozambique have signed a general cooperation agreement providing for close partnership in the different fields of development.
Establishing a joint ministerial commission was part of the agreement which also covered aviation, agriculture, military training, human resources development, science and technology, transportation and other bilateral fields.
Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister of Mozambique Oldemiro Balói and Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Taye Atseke-Selassie signed the general cooperation agreement.
The agreement signing event followed the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
Hailemariam and Nyusi discussed on ways of fostering trade and investment as well as continental issues, according to Ambassador Taye who attended the meeting.
The Ethiopian Premier expressed gratitude for President Nyusi and other member countries of the African Union for their overwhelming support to Ethiopia’s election as a non-permanent member on the UN Security Council.
The overwhelming support encourages Ethiopia to further commit to African agendas, Hailemariam said.
President Nyusi for his part praised Ethiopia’s continental as well as global peacemaking role.
Ethiopia’s election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member is a good opportunity for Africa, the President said, expressing his belief that the country will maintain its standout role of ensuring peace and security in Africa.
