Member of the Frelimo political commission and former SADC Executive Secretary , Tomaz Salomão, paid a working visit to Tete province last week (from 21 to 23 April, where visited the provincial capital and the districts of Cahora Bassa, Marara and Moatize.
“More vigilance, more care, and control are recommended to prevent trucks supposedly carrying cargo being used to transport military artefacts for our destabilisation,” he warned while speaking to the press from Tete, quoted in the newspaper Diário de Moçambique.
Salomão expressed particular concern with the risk of foreign citizens using the Cuchamano-Zóbue corridor, a route preferred by those from neighbouring countries Malawi and Zimbabwe, allegedly looking for jobs in South Africa.
“We must not allow this to happen, and only sharpening our sense of vigilance can prevent it,” Salomão said.
On Friday ( April 23), Salomao met businesspeople from Tete city, the Frelimo Moçambique Facebook page reports.
During his working visit to Tete, the political commission member was accompanied by Secretary of the Central Committee for Communication and Image and Frelimo spokesperson Comrade Caifadine Manasses, the same source adds.
