About 3,000 peasant families in the part of Moma district covered by the Pilivili mining project in Nampula province will be resettled in June, a Radio Mozambique report reads.
According to the same source, the project is to be carried out “within the scope of the Kenmare heavy sands exploration company social responsibility [program]”.
The head of community relations at Kenmare in Moma, Hlaleni Matolo, said that the project would cost around US$4 million. It will be implemented in three neighbourhoods and will last for five years.
In addition to the resettlement of families, the project includes economic and social development programs, with the emphasis on health and education, Matolo added.
