The bodies of two soldiers who went missing last week following an accident while crossing the Incomati River between the village of Manhiça and the administrative post of Calanga in Maputo province have been found.
The boat accident occurred last Wednesday during a crossing to Calanga administrative post, isolated by the rise of the Incomati River. At the time of the incident, the National Civil Protection Unit (UNAPROC) vessel was carrying four occupants.
Juvenal Sigaúque, head of Calanga administrative post, who joined in the search for the victims, said that the first body was found on Saturday morning, and the other on Sunday afternoon.
“The bodies were found in exactly the same place where the wreck occurred,” he said.
After the accident, crossing the Incomati River and the connection to Calanga and the district village of Manhiça were suspended until Sunday.
Watch the interview with one of the survivors, Osvaldo Nhansengo, who told TVM about his experience of the accident and being rescued.
