More than a hundred precarious dwellings were destroyed by gale-force winds in Maganja da Costa district, Zambezia province, this week.
The gale also destroyed 13 schools and injured 15 people.
The district has been without power since Tuesday afternoon as a result of 14 power transmission poles being blown over.
Sharing the news, Maganja da Costa administrator Carlos Carneiro said: “We have also seen a large amount of crops destroyed. We are still counting the cost.”
“The winds left for us only suffering and chaos,” he said.
