Mozambique: Western Sahara minister calls for dialogue as 'key' to stability
President Nyusi has just announced new restrictive measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Mozambique. The new measures enter into force tomorrow Friday, February 5, for 30 days.
The President announced a mandatory curfew in the area of Greater Maputo, in Boane, Marracuene, Matola and Maputo city from 9 pm to 4 am, for a period of 30 days.
One of the measures announced is to postpone the resumption of face-to-face classes at all levels of education in the country, for a period of 30 days.
Places of worship, conferences and religious celebrations will close.
Opening hours of commercial establishments will be from 9 am to 7 pm, from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm. Restaurants will open until 8 pm, from Monday to Sunday;
In commercial and catering establishments, it is mandatory to determine and post the maximum capacity of the space;
Private social events are banned, restricted to a maximum of 20 people;
The sale of alcoholic beverages in ‘barracas’ is banned;
In State events, the number of participants must not exceed 50;
Banking and financial institutions must ensure hygiene and automatic disinfection at their counters and ATMs;
Immediate introduction of additional measures in all public establishments;
Holding the heads of Public and Private Services accountable for non-compliance with the preventive measures;
Ensuring a rotation regime in order to guarantee continuity of services;
The use of a visor does not prevent the use of masks;
Recreational sports matches, leisure sports matches and similar are banned;
Training for teams playing in Moçambola are suspended after the 4th round..
Agricultural products and inputs fairs will be closed;
In penitentiaries, each prisoner is entitled to one visit per month;
In the metropolitan area of Greater Maputo (Maputo, Matola, Marracuene and Boane), a curfew is introduced: between 9:00 pm and 4:00 am, no one should be on the street. The measure safeguards p professionals whose activity is of public interest;
