Mozambique: More than 300 Cabo Delgado schools not functioning after Cyclone Chido

Mozambique’s Ministry of Health today [January 21] reported a further twelve Covid-19 deaths and 829 newly diagnosed cases of the respiratory disease in the country.
Twelve (12) deaths were reported in patients infected with the new coronavirus.: seven men and five women, whose ages vary between 28 and 101 years old.
Of the 12 deaths reported today, one was declared on Monday, January 16, one other was declared on Tuesday, January 17, six were declared on Wednesday and four deaths were declared today. All the victims are Mozambican nationals.
The deaths reported today bring the Covid-19 death toll in Mozambique to 283. Of these deaths, 226 occurred in Maputo city.
Mozambique today reported a further 829 cases of Covid-19, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases since the outbreak to 30,225.
The city of Maputo recorded the largest number of newly diagnosed cases with 249 cases, corresponding to 30% of the total new cases reported across the country. It was followed by the Province of Gaza with one 169 new cases reported today, corresponding to 20.4%.
The Ministry of Health also reported a further 26 more persons cured, therefore recoveries now stand at 19,510 ( 64.5%).
According to the Ministry of Health, 243 patients are hospitalised across the country, the majority of which in Maputo city.
Mozambique currently has 10,428 active cases.
