A short circuit damaged servers and computers in the computer room of the Central Office for Combating Corruption (GCCC) in Maputo on Monday morning, Carta de Mozambique reports.
Office director Ana Maria Gemo told ‘Carta de Moçambique’ that it was premature to speculate on the causes of the accident, adding that, while there was substantial material damage to computer equipment, no procedural information was lost.
“Our system generates [back-up] files automatically, so no documents have been lost,” Gemo said.
A forensics investigation by the criminal police (SERNIC) has already been conducted on site.
