Here’s a look at the main Covid-19 measures announced this Thursday, December 17th, by President Filipe Nyusi. The measures will take effect from December 19.
1. For all passengers arriving in the country, the deadline for presenting proof of their negative Covid-19 test result obtained in the country of origin goes from 72 to 96 hours;
2. The Government will coordinate with the Government of South Africa for the reopening of the Ponta de Ouro border;
3. The issuing of border visas for tourism purposes will resume;
4. Leaving the port area by the crew and passengers of cruise ships for tourism is allowed, as long as Covid-19 preventive measures are observed;
5. The opening of bars and ‘barracas’ is allowed from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. between Sundays and Thursdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays;
6. The resumption of classes in pre-school and primary schools with a foreign curriculum is authorised, depending on the epidemiological situation of the country and the recommendations of the health and education authorities;
6. Private meetings are now allowed to include 50 people, if they are held in closed and semi-open spaces, and 150 if held outdoors, always observing preventive measures;
7. The closing time of markets is extended from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m..
8. Religious services are from now to be authorised according to the capacity of the location, with places for those attending marked, taking into account the two metres social distancing.
