The Minister of Culture and Tourism Eldevina Materula attended the launch at Mozambique Fashion Week 2020 of a new clothes brand based on the work of Malangatana – the result of a partnership between DDB and the Malangatana Foundation.
“It fills us with pride to recognise that this is one of the forms of internationalisation of the arts and culture in the service of promoting peace, harmony and tolerance that always characterised the unity in cultural diversity of Mozambicans. Mozambique Fashion Week reveals how committed DDB is to the cause of the arts and to combining the common objectives of the Government of Mozambique,” Minister Materula said of the brand and the achievement of the 2020 edition of the Mozambique Fashion Week (MFW).
Minister Materula highlighted that the technological modernisation and encouragement of fashion, music, dance, theatre, entertainment, audio-visual and cinema industries, literature, poetry and publishing, visual arts, handicrafts, design, gastronomy, musical instruments and tourism, were government priorities in leveraging the cultural and creative industries in Mozambique.
The sixteenth edition of the MFW took place from 9 to 12 December in Maputo.
