Mozambique: MISA concerned at disappearance of journalist Arlindo Chissale

A seven-year-old boy died of Covid-19 in Inhambane province on November 27, the Ministry of Health (MISAU) announced in its Covid-19 update on Thursday (December 10).
Without advancing the reasons for the late announcement of the fatality, MISAU added that the minor lost his life in the health unit where he was hospitalised. The collection of the minor’s sample was carried out on November 24, and the result notified on December 2, the child having already lost his life on November 27.
This brings the cumulative Covid-19 death toll in Mozambique to 139, with this case the fourth fatality in Inhambane.
Also in Thursday’s update, MISAU reported the diagnosis of 81 more confirmed coronavirus cases – 45 in the city of Maputo, 12 in Zambézia, nine in Niassa, seven in Maputo province, five in Gaza, two in Sofala and one in Cabo Delgado. The country now has a cumulative total of 16,521 infections, of which 1,663 are still active.
In relation to hospitalised patients, health authorities indicate that they now number 37, of whom 13 entered establishments over Wednesday and Thursday, one in the province of Inhambane and 12 in the city of Maputo. Twelve patients were concurrently discharged, all in the city of Maputo.
Meanwhile, another 31 persons were reported as having recovered from the disease, six in Zambezia province, six in Inhambane province and 19 in Gaza province. This brings the country total to 14,715.
