Mozambique registered monthly inflation of 0.66% in November, according to data published on Wednesday by the Consumer Price Index (IPC) bulletin of the National Statistics Institute (INE).
Annual inflation in November stood at 3.27%, and accumulated inflation for the last 11 months at 1.97%. The 12-month average figure is 3.14%.
From January to November, the highlights were the increase in price of horse mackerel, fresh fish, cooking oil, light motor vehicles (new and second-hand), full meals in restaurants and wheat bread.
The upward price trend, albeit a gentle one, had already been identified by the Bank of Mozambique and other authorities in the sector, and reflects shocks in the economy caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The CPI is calculated by the INE from the price of a basket of goods and services in Maputo, Beira and Nampula.
