Mozambique: Prevention strategies drive 37% fall in Inhambane malaria cases
Mozambique has recorded, in the last 24 hours, two more deaths due to Covid-19, bringing the total to 138, and diagnosed a further 67 new cases of the disease , announced the Ministry of Health.
“These are two male patients, 70 and 78 years of age, of Mozambican and Indian nationality, respectively, who died after their health conditions worsened during hospitalisation in Maputo City units” , reads the note from the Ministry of Health distributed today to the media.
The health authorities this Wednesday announced a further 67 new coronavirus cases , bringing the total number of cases registered in the country to 16,440, of which 16,127 cases are locally transmitted and 313 imported.
The country accounts for a total of 14,684 recoveries (89%) .
Of the total 1,757 active cases in Mozambique, the city of Maputo has 1,307.
Mozambique has cumulatively tested 241,226 suspected cases of the infection since the first confirmed Covid-19 case was announced on 22 March.
The Ccovid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,557,814 deaths resulting from more than 68.2 million cases of infection worldwide.
