Mozambique: Licungo University delivers computers under 'One Student, One Laptop' program

The Mozambican health authorities on Wednesday reported another death from the Covid-19 respiratory disease, and a further 71 cases – although at the same time the number of people who have recovered has reached almost 90 per cent of all those ever diagnosed with Covid-19.
According to a Ministry of Health press release, the latest victim was a 78 year old Mozambican woman hospitalised in a Maputo health unit. Doctors were unable to save her, and she died on Tuesday. This brings the total number of deaths from Covid-19 in Mozambique to 128.
The release said that, since the start of the pandemic, 225,762 people have been tested for the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, 908 of them in the previous 24 hours. Of the samples tested, 324 were from Maputo city, 134 from Maputo province, 113 from Cabo Delgado, 106 from Sofala, 62 from Zambezia, 51 from Nampula, 47 from Niassa, 41 from Tete, and 30 from Manica.
837 of these tests gave negative results and 71 people tested positive for the coronavirus. This brings the number of positive results in Mozambique to 15,302.
Of the latest cases, 62 are Mozambicans, three are South African, two are Chinese, two are Indian, one is Swiss and one is Australian. 45 are men or boys and 26 are women or girls. Five are children under the age of 15, six are adolescents aged between 15 and 24, 50 are adults aged between 25 and 64, and one is over 65 years old. In nine cases, no age information was given.
Once again the new cases are overwhelmingly concentrated in Maputo city (38) and Maputo province (15). Thus Maputo city and province account for 75 per cent of the cases. There were also seven cases from Nampula, four from Cabo Delgado, four from Zambezia, two from Manica and one from Tete.
The release added that, in line with standard Health Ministry procedure, all 71 new cases are in home isolation, and their contacts are being traced.
Also in the previous 24 hours, one Covid-19 patient was discharged from hospital, and seven new cases were admitted, all of them in Maputo city. Currently, 37 people are under medical care in the Covid-19 isolation wards (33 in Maputo, one in Matola, two in Zambezia and one in Tete).
The Ministry added that, in the same period, a further 51 people had recovered in full from Covid-19 (33 in Maputo city, 11 in Sofala, five in Inhambane and two in Tete). The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,459 – which is 88 per cent of all those diagnosed with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
There were, on Wednesday, 1,711 active cases of the disease, with the following geographical distribution: Maputo city, 1,514; Cabo Delgado, 42; Maputo province, 32; Manica, 27; Nampula, 23; Gaza, 22; Zambezia, 17; Sofala, 17; Inhambane, eight; Tete, seven; Niassa, two.
