Mozambique’s Ministry of Health (MISAU) on Sunday [November 15] reported three more Covid-19 deaths.. [You may read the full document, in Portuguese, HERE]
“Two deaths are of male patients, aged 67 and 73 years of age, from Manica province and Maputo city, who passed away on [Thursday] November 12 and on [Saturday] November 14, respectively,” MISAU reports.
“A 66-year-old female patient from the city of Maputo, also lost her life on [Saturday] November 14. The three patients died after their clinical condition worsened during hospitalisation units in Manica province and Maputo city respectively,” the statement reads.
Mozambique’s Covid-19 death toll now stands at 113.

MISAU reports that, of 903 tests performed in the country “in the previous 24 hours”, 108 came back positive, bringing the cumulative total of confirmed cases in Mozambique to 14,448.
Of the newly diagnosed cases reported on Sunday, 77 patients (71.3%) are from the city of Maputo, which leads infection cases across the country, It was followed by Maputo province with 20 newly diagnosed patients (20.4%) reported.
“Of the one hundred and eight new cases reported today, 69 cases (63.Z%) cases are male and 39 cases (36.%) are female. Among them is one child under 5 years of age and nine individuals over 65 years of age. The 25-34 year old age group registered 36 new cases, corresponding to 33.3% of the total cases reported today,” the MISAU report reads.
Of all the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country, 14,144 are judged local transmissions and 304 imported.
The Ministry of Health today reports that the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 in Mozambique rose to 12,543, with 38 new recoveries registered in the last 24 hours. This means that 86.8% of patients infected with the new Coronavirus are now fully recovered.
Of the newly recovered cases, 22 are from the city of Maputo and 16 from the province of Maputo. All 38 are Mozambican.
Covid-19 remains the leading cause of hospitalisation for 52 patients in inpatient centres for people with the virus. About 90.4% of these patients are in Maputo, the capital of the country, and “suffer from various chronic pathologies, the most frequent of which are high blood pressure and diabetes”, MISAU reports.
Seven more patients were hospitalised with coronavirus over the weekend, all in Maputo city.
The number of active Covid-19 cases in Mozambique currently stands at 1,788.
