A total of US$242,991.03 will be spent on the construction of classrooms and toilets and the distribution of meals in primary schools in Nhamatanda district, Sofala province, under the Cyclone Idai Emergency Response Programme.
The project aims to improve public health in primary schools, “by building five classrooms and two toilets in two primary schools in Nhamatanda district, and equipping schools and educating beneficiaries about building management practices for classrooms and public health,” a note sent to ‘O País’ reveals.
The same project aims to improve the children’s food security by distributing food once a month for four months in the two primary schools, and offering nutrition seminars to the parents of the children covered.
The measures were made public in a press release, but the decision on support for Mozambique was taken by the Japan Platform (JPF) not-for-profit organization on 21 October.
Japan Platform is an international emergency humanitarian organization that provides support quickly and effectively in response to global development, focusing on issues related to refugees and natural disasters.
