Mozambique: Residents commit to cleanup efforts

Mozambique on Sunday afternoon (November 1) reported its 93rd Covid-19 death, that of a 46-year-old man who was hospitalised in Maputo city. Together with the death of a 60-year-old woman in Zambézia province, reported ion Saturday, this brings the cumulative number of people who have died after being infected with the coronavirus to 93.
“The Zambézia case had been notified on October 26, and the death declared on October 31,” the Ministry of Health (MISAU) press release detailed.
According to MISAU, Mozambique tested 1,479 people from Saturday to Sunday, of whom 119 returned positive results, bringing the cumulative total of infected people to 12,988.
The number of people recorded as having fully recovered from Covid-19 has dropped dramatically in the past 48 hours.. On Saturday, no recoveries were reported, and on Sunday, only two. This caused the percentage of patients regarded as fully recovered to fall from 81.1 percent on October 31 to 80.4 percent on Sunday.
Mozambique remains committed to fighting Covid-19 by tracking positive case contacts. As of October 31, health authorities had tracked 2,776,834 people, of whom 50,587 were then subject to home quarantine.
At the moment, 6,320 people are still observing home quarantine, and 2,654 positive case contacts are being followed up.
