Malawi’s Ministry of Transport has assured people in the country that it will facilitate transportation of affordable farm inputs so that farmers can start accessing soon in readiness for 2020/2021 growing season
Minister responsible Muhammad Sidik Mia is in neighbouring Mozambique to speed up transportation of the fertiliser
Speaking from port of Nacala, Mia said his presence in Mozambique will among other things, accelerate clearance process of fertiliser consignment as well as transportation of goods from ports into Malawi.
At the port of Nacala, Mia was in the company of his Mozambican counterpart, Minister of Transport and Communication, Janfar Abdulai, as the two are working hand in hand to effectively achieve speedy process.
“From Nacala, I will travel to Beira where I would specifically tour Sena Corridor in a follow up to the agreement between Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera and Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi during their meeting some weeks ago while in Tete, Songo and Cabora Basa,” Mia
Finally he said his tour to Beira has a long term importance to development of Malawi as he would take the opportunity to negotiate further on the anticipated opening of the corridor.
