The Ministry of Health has promised to bolster staffing levels in Covid-19 treatment centres in the capital of the country in response to the increase in the number of cases there.
Armindo Tiago said that, in the first phase, 122 new staff, who would work exclusively in the Covid-19 response at the treatment centres in Maputo Central Hospital and Polana Caniço, would be recruited.
Speaking yesterday during a working visit to Zavala, Inhambane province, Minister Tiago mentioned that, in addition to the new staff, the sector was redeploying professionals from areas affected by terrorism in the province of Cabo Delgado.
This Thursday, the Minister of Health is visiting Maxixe, where he will inspect the ongoing construction of the provincial hospital, and Jangamo, home of one of the Covid-19 isolation centres in that part of the country.
