President Filipe Nyusi said in Songo, Tete province, on Tuesday, that Mozambique and Malawi should make joint efforts to combat terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal migration.
Speaking yesterday at a banquet for his Malawian counterpart, Lazarus Chakwera, who was visiting Mozambique to strengthen relations, the head of state said that the positioning of the Malawian statesman heralded a new dynamism in relations between the two countries.
“Our countries need to embark on well-coordinated, joint actions, through bolder joint plans. The decisions and consensus reached in the framework of this visit, the commitment to their effective implementation, the regular meetings that the different sectors of the two countries will carry out, give us the assurance that a new page is open for dynamising relations of friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation between the Republic of Mozambique and its sister Republic of Malawi, aiming at the best for both our peoples,” Nyusi stressed.
