The International Monetary Fund appoints new Resident Representative to Mozambique

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appointed Mr. Alexis Meyer-Cirkel as the new IMF Resident Representative in Mozambique with effect from September 9, 2020. Mr. Meyer-Cirkel succeeds Mr. Ari Aisen who headed the institution’s Office in Maputo in the last 4 years, starting in September 2016.
Mr. Meyer-Cirkel, a Brazilian national, joined the IMF in August 2010, and has held positions covering several countries on topics of macroeconomic policy, sustainability of public debt, and external sector assessments. Prior to joining the IMF, Mr. Meyer-Cirkel worked in financial markets, at Morgan Stanley, the European Central Bank, Allianz Research and at the Central Bank of Brazil.
Mr. Meyer-Cirkel holds a PhD in Economics from the Goethe University, Frankfurt, and a Master’s in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
