The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Investment Bank (BNI), Tomás Matola, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from the institution to which “O País” had access.
According to the communique, Tomás Matola recently toured the provinces in the context of publicising the financing lines granted by the Government, aimed at strengthening the cash flow and / or supporting investment aimed at promoting the revitalisation or operational improvement of Micro, Small and Medium National Expenses, with a view to minimising the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, after returning to Maputo, on the 1st of September, Matola “felt uneasy, having gone to a hospital unit, where he was subjected to the COVID-19 test which came back positive on the morning of the 3rd of September .
Tomás Matola is currently”under medical care at his residence where he observes complete isolation”.
The note to which “O País” had access also indicates “the National Investment Bank calls and encourages everyone who has been in contact with the President of the Executive Committee [BNI] to take the COVID-19 test and follow the necessary precautionary measures ”.
