Mozambique: Around 57,000 children at risk of not receiving school meals in Nampula province - WFP

Mozambique reported one more Covid-19 death today, that of a Portuguese man of 76 years of age who died in Maputo on Tuesday, September 1, MISAU has announced this Thursday.
Mozambique recorded in the last 24 hours, 90 more positive cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the cumulative to 4,207, with 3941 cases of local transmission and 266 imported, the Ministry of Health announced at a press briefing this afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, 42 more patients were considered as having completely recovered, so the country now has 2,370 recoveries.
In the same period, yet another death was recorded due to COVID-19, in the city of Maputo of a 76-year-old Portuguese man who was admitted to hospital on August 29 and passed away on September 1. His Covid-19 test came back positive the day after his death, September 2.
The country now has 26 deaths due to COVID-19.
Mozambique performed 1,508 tests in the last 24 hours.
Of the newly diagnosed cases , 79 are Mozambican citizens and 11 are foreigners: one South African, one Rwandan, one Congolese from the Republic of the Congo, one Congolese from Democratic Republic of the Congo, one Ghanaian, one Egyptian, one Italian, one British, one Indonesian and two North American citizens. All are local transmissions.
The newly diagnosed cases are distributed as follows: 22 Niassa, 06 Nampula, 01 Tete. 01 Manica, 04 Sofala, 09 Maputo province and 47 in Maputo City.
Five of these cases are under five years of age.
Mozambique currently has 2,800 active cases.
Deputy director of public health Benigna Matsinhe called on all citizens to wear face masks correctly and wash face masks correctly. Everyone must wear a mask in public and follow social distancing rules, Matsinhe urged.
