President to award the Medal for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle to 916 Mozambican citizens

The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, in the use of the powers conferred on him by paragraph I) of article 158 of the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique, combined with number 1 of article 39 of Law number 10/2011, of July 13, has decided by Presidential Decree to award the Medal for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle of Mozambique to 916 national citizens.

The ‘Medal for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle’ is awarded by the Head of State to national citizens in recognition of their active participation in the Mozambican Homeland Liberation Struggle, on the fronts of armed or clandestine struggle, diplomatic combat or information and propaganda, the battle for the triumph of independence, as well as the selfless effort to value the achievements of national independence, Mozambicanity and national development.

Should there be a need to impose insignia of Honorary Titles and Decorations on national entities, at the level of the provinces, on the 7th of September of this year, President Nyusi determined, through Presidential Order, to delegate powers to the Secretaries of State of Maputo City and of all other Provinces in the country.
