Mozambique: Terrorists burn vehicles after blocking road - AIM
Just as everything seemed calm in the district of Mocímboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado province, where the terrorists have set up their headquarters, reports of fresh outrages arrive, ”Carta de Moçambique’ reports.
According to ‘Carta de Moçambique’ sources, the group launched a new offensive in the district last Friday, this time attacking Nhonge Island, 5 km from Ulo village.
Sources say the insurgents killed four people during the raid, in addition to stealing goods from the small stalls on the island. Sources also report that the group abducted some young people, but without advancing numbers.
Part of the population of the Mocímboa da Praia district headquarters has taken refuge on the islands nearby, including Nhonge Island. Others are using the islands as a stopover on their way to Mueda (via Palma) or the city of Pemba. From Palma, refugees travel by land to Mueda, one of the districts in Cabo Delgado province still considered safe.
