The sero-epidemiological survey launched in Maputo today is focussed on health professionals, those working in passenger transport, police officers and the elderly in homes.
The launch, in one of the elderly care homes in the Polana Caniço B neighbourhood, was overseen by the Provincial State Secretary in the City of Maputo, Sheila Afonso.
“The survey runs from 3 to 21 August. Its objective is to assess the degree of people’s exposure,” she explained.
The delegate of the National Institute of Health in the capital was also present, and told reporters that 80 pollsters would be involved in carrying out the survey.
Maputo (city) has, so far, the highest number of active Covid-19 cases, and Maputo province the most deaths from the pandemic.
