Malawi reiterates need for stability in Mozambique - Watch

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, today opened four public utility infrastructures designed to contribute to the socio-economic progress of the province of Inhambane.
President Filipe Nyusi inaugurated, shortly after 7 a.m.on Friday, the road that connects the districts of Homoíne and Panda, in the province of Inhambane,. The President recommended periodic maintenance work so that the infrastructure lasts as long as possible.
Filipe Nyusi congratulated the local population, represented by the respective authorities, and said that the road represents yet another achievement for Mozambicans and is being officially delivered on the 24th of July, Nationalisation Day.
The Homoíne-Panda road is actually part of a larger road that connects the provinces of Gaza and Inhambane from the interior, specifically Chissano, on the EN1, to Maxixe, passing through Chibuto, Manjacaze, Nwandjahane, Macuácua and Mawayela. For the effective completion oft his project, the 90 km stretch between Macuácua and Panda is still missing.
The Homoine/Panda stretch is 50.6 kilometres long, including 1600 meters of four streets in the village of Homoíne, and was paved between September 2017 and March this year. The works cost about 373 million meticais disbursed by the Road Fund.
The president also inaugurated the premises of the Judicial Court of the Inharrime distric and the Eduardo Mondlane Industrial and Commercial Institute – which benefited from an upgrade allowing it to accommodate other technical courses – and the Hotel School, both in the city of Inhambane.
The Head of State’s agenda for today also included conducting, in the city of Inhambane, extraordinary sessions of the Provincial Executive Council and of the State Representation Services in the Province Council, as well as the presentation of a joint balance of the visit, extended to district administrators and other staff.
During this visit to Inhambane province, the President is accompanied by the ministers of State Administration and Civil Service, Ana Comoane; Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, João Machatine; Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Helena Mateus Kida; of Science and Technology, Higher and Technical Vocational Education, Gabriel Ismael Salimo, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Fredson Victor Bacar, members of staff of the Presidency of the Republic and other State institutions.
