Mozambican police today announced the arrest of two men, who were transporting 39.55 kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine in two suitcases in a bus. The arrest took place , in Niassa, northern Mozambique., allegedly
“During the road inspection in a passenger vehicle we noticed two suitcases of the same colour and when searching, found that one of them had 10 bowls containing meth and the other 24 packages of cocaine,” t said Alves Mathe, spokesman for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Niassa.
The detainees are a 37-year-old Mozambican and a 44-year-old Bangladeshi.
“The two said they did not know each other and that the suitcases had been delivered to the m who did not know what was inside,” said the spokesman.
According to the PRM, the suspects came from Tanzania and are supposed to have South Africa as their destination.
“We suspect that they are part of a drug trafficking network and that it would not be the first time that they have passed through here,” added Alves Mathe.
